Feb 08, 2012 · 3/ My understanding is that, setting the MTU in the router doesn't prevent the TCP/IP stack in Windows to send packets bigger than the MTU size set in the router. In this case, my router would fragment the packets so they don't exceed the upper limit set in the router.

Jan 10, 2006 · Whoops I thought you were still up lol Ok well If you do infact have the Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router go into your Routers settings by opening Internet explorer and typing your router address ( i think its 192.168.1.1 ). I had the same problem and here is what MS says to do. MTU MTU is the Maximum Transmission Unit . It specifies the largest packet size permitted for Internet transmission . Select Manual if you want to manually enter the largest packet size that is transmitted . To have the Router select the best MTU for your Internet connection, keep the default setting, Auto.
